The Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996 (commonly known as the “BOCW Act”) was passed by the Government of India to address the problems associated with unskilled labourers who are forced to work in harrowingly difficult conditions. Monitoring the working conditions of the workforce is the aim of this Act. It serves as a social welfare programme with the goal of giving benefits to the workers who are engaged in building and construction-related activities around the nation.
